Medien- undFilmstiftung NRW presents its annual results
The Medien- undFilmstiftung NRW presented its results after the first year with Petra Müller at the head of the Rhine-based institution, during which 433 projects were financed with €35.7m.
The bulk of the funding went towards financing 133 big-screen productions with €30.5m, reaching the figure of 954 days of film shooting in North Rhine-Westphalia. One of the greatest achievements of this year is the increase in the so-called “regional investment effect” up to 244%, compared with 226% and 224% for the previous two years. This means that for every euro contributed by the institution in the form of funding, €2.44 were invested in the region.
Funding for young talents amounted to €2.5m, either in the form of production funding, or through grants and events. Moreover, €1.3m went towards the programme for the digitisation of movie theatres. For its part, the Digital Media Pilot Programme granted €435,000 for the production of 14 projects.
In 2011, the Mediencluster NRW was integrated into the Filmstiftung NRW, changing its name to Medien- undFilmstiftung NRW. This year, it reached the figure of almost 5m admissions sold for films backed by the institution and there were hits including Pina [+see also:
