by

Contemporary artists Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal’s debut feature, It Looks Pretty from a Distance, is among the 15 contenders for the Tigers Awards at the 41st Rotterdam International Film Festival, which will open on Wednesday. Rewarded in the Polish Film competition at the latest New Horizons Festival in Wroclaw, the film, starring Marcin Czarnik, Agnieszka Podsiadlik, Piotr Nowak and Elzbieta Okupska, plunges into the heart of a small Polish village one scorching summer and reveals the hierarchies, family crises and patriarchal system. Produced by Filmpolis (which is also handling international sales) and Anton Kern Gallery, It Looks Pretty from a Distance will be launched on February 10 in Polish theatres.
