Fiennes, Scott Thomas reunite for Invisible Woman

Sixteen long years after they paired on the late Anthony Minghella’s multiple award winning The English Patient, Ralph Fiennes and Kristin Scott Thomas will be together again for The Invisible Woman. This time around Fiennes, who made his debut as a filmmaker with Coriolanus [+see also:

, will also direct.

Fiennes will commence principal photography at UK locations on April 23. 2012 marks 200 years since the birth of celebrated British writer Charles Dickens and the film will celebrate the author’s bi-centenary by looking at a rarely explored aspect of his private life. Based on a script adapted by Abi Morgan (Shame [+see also:

) from Claire Tomalin’s acclaimed biography Charles Dickens: A Life, the film will explore the clandestine love story between Dickens and his mistress Nelly Ternan who were in a 13 year relationship. Fiennes will essay Dickens, Felicity Jones Ternan and Scott Thomas Ternan’s mother.

Scott Thomas said, “I’m going to do Ralph's film because he’s an old friend and he did such a good job on Coriolanus that I want to be there for him when he does his next film.”

Stewart MacKinnon and Christian Baute are producing for Headline Pictures and Gabrielle Tana for Magnolia Mae. BBC Films, the BFI and WestEnd Films are backing the film. WestEnd will also handle international sales.
