Analysis of new technologies

by

The Future of Distribution will be the subject under discussion in Paris at the Forum of Images during the 10th edition of the Meetings of the Superior Technical Commission of Sound and Pictures - CST, presided over by Pierre-William Glenn, and held in Paris on Monday 3 March.
The emergence of the digital phenomenon will be high on the agenda of the 300 French film industry operators, from post-production experts to distributors, financiers and representatives of the leading film institutions, taking part in the 8 conferences and seminars. The issues include “The latest important developments in film”, “The Consequences of New Distribution Formats” and “The Defence of Artistic Products” as well as a round table analysing the repercussions that new distribution formats like DVD, cable and the Internet are having on film financing – the participants include the MD of ARP (Filmmakers, Directors, Producers) and Régine Vial, head of distribution company Les Films du Losange . One of the key issues of this conference will be the reluctance of exhibitors to adopt digital film projection technology. This debate will be presided over by Ken Legargeant, head of the European Agency for the Development of Digital Films and by Richard Patry, on behalf of the French Film Federation (FNCF).
