- After never-ending debate, the former director of the Venice Film Festival takes over from Piera Detassis, and returns to his home town after 22 years

Marco Müller is the new artistic director of the Rome Film Festival. So decided the board of the Cinema per Roma foundation today. After having directed the Venice Film Festival, Müller will take over from Piera Detassis and direct the Roman event.

The support of the new president, Paolo Ferrari, was decisive after the votes in support of municipal and regional government body representives, the votes against the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and the provincial administration, and Musica per Roma's abstention from the vote.

"Müller's compensation will be the same as Detassis [150,000 per year]," said Ferrari at the end of the meeting.

"I couldn't be happier," said the new director. "I am returning to my city after 22 years to work on a project that motivates me: to give a new impulse, after the results of its first six years of activity, to the work of a festival that wants to satisfy, as well as possible, the needs of those who make, screen, and watch films."
