- English film body into second year of film producing scheme

Creative England has announced iFeatures2, the follow up to last year’s low budget feature film initiative. The scheme re-opens for submissions today.

Creative England has teamed with BFI Film Fund and BBC Films to support the development and production of a further three full-length features, all to be set within the English regions. Open to writer, director and producer teams who can already demonstrate a strong body of work, each film will be produced on a budget of £350,000. They will be chosen from a slate of 16 projects. The BBC is also pre-buying UK Free TV rights to the completed films.

The features 8 Minutes Idle (pictured), Flying Blind and In The Dark Half came out of the first iFeatures scheme and are being represented by ContentFilm International.

Christine Langan, Head of BBC Films, said: “The first scheme was a highly effective way of developing new talent in the South West; it is especially exciting to widen the net to include filmmakers from the rest of the English regions.”

iFeatures2 Executive Producer Tristan Goligher said, “More than ever low budget film making has the potential to craft imaginative stories that can reach out to people across the globe. iFeatures2 aims to collaborate with the most exciting film makers to support their films, from conception to exhibition.”
