First revealed in The Hit by Stephen Frears, Tim Roth then became famous with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, two films that came to Cannes and where the second won a Golden Palm in 1994. Nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in 1995 for his acting in Rob Roy by Michael Caton-Jones, he also played roles in Don't Come Knocking by Wim Wenders, Planet of the Apes by Tim Burton, Funny Games U.S by Michael Haneke, and Everybody says I love you by Woody Allen. Tim Roth also directed a striking feature film, The War Zone, selected in 2009 for Cannes (at the Directors’ Fortnight), Sundance, and Toronto, and the winner of European Discovery of the Year.

Italian director Nanni Moretti will head the jury for Cannes’ official competition this year, and Belgian director Jean-Pierre Dardenne will head the jury for the Cinéfondation selection and the short film competition.

The press conference to reveal the official selection for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival will be held on April 19.
