Gaumont to show off Cluzet, Bonnaire, Paradis, and Kruger

30/04/2012 - Pre-sales will be launched in Cannes for Turning Tide, Sisterly, and Les garçons et Guillaume, à table !

Already in the official selection with Camille Rewinds (article) by Noémie Lvovsky, the film to close the Directors’ Fortnight (news), French international sales agency Gaumont will also launch pre-sales for several films at the 65th Cannes Film Festival’s Film Market (from May 16 to 25).

Turning Tide stands out among the newcomers in the line-up. The film will be director of photography Christophe Offenstein’s first feature as a director. (He is currently working on Blood Ties by Guillaume Canet after having worked with the director on Whatever You Say, Tell No One [+see also:

film profile].) The film is to feature François Cluzet (photo - Untouchable [+see also:

film profile]) as a skipper who suddenly finds himself in charge of a yacht on the Vendée Globe Challenge. The single-handed race around the world will take on an unexpected turn after a forced stop in Cape Verde…

In Cannes, Cécile Gaget’s team will also start pre-sales for Sisterly by Anne-Marie Etienne (La sieste sous le figuier - news). The film is maybe to star Vanessa Paradis and Sandrine Bonnaire. In its plot, the former, who has lost the will to live but doesn’t have the strength to end her life, seeks refuge in a convent, and the latter, a nun there, provides her with support and friendship.

And then Gaumont will be launching pre-sales for Les garçons et Guillaume, à table !, a film by and featuring Guillaume Gallienne, and an adaptation of his play. This LGM Cinéma production will also feature German actress Diane Kruger (Farewell, My Queen! [+see also:

film profile]), Française Fabian, and Niels Arestrup.

Finally, there will also be the new comedy Vive la France by and featuring Michaël Youn beside José Garcia, a Légende production said to be a cross between Borat and Four Lions.

Gaumont will also continue with sales launched in Berlin (article), notably for T.S. Spivet by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Paris Countdown (article) by Edgar Marie, The Dandelions (article) by Carine Tardieu, Paulette by Jérôme Enrico (article), the comedies F.B.I : Frog Butthead Investigators by the duo Kad Merad – Olivier Baroux and Porn in the Hood by Franck Gastambide, The Grandmothers by Anne Fontaine, and Only God Forgives by Nicolas Winding Refn (sales shared with Wild Bunch). It’s a good-looking line-up, and there may be more announcements in Cannes...
