Le Pacte to launch sales on We Come as Friends by Hubert Sauper

- In Cannes, Jean Labadie’s company will launch sales for a new documentary by the maker of Darwin’s Nightmare, currently in production

Le Pacte will launch sales for We Come as Friends by Hubert Sauper (pictured) at the 65th Cannes Film Festival's Film Market (from May 16 to 25).

The new documentary by the filmmaker behind the award-winning Darwin’s Nightmare (nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary in 2006, winner of a César for Best First Film in 2006 and the Europa Cinemas Label in Venice in 2004) is currently in production. It’s the second part of his slavery - colonisation - globalisation trilogy, of which Darwin’s Nightmare was the third part. We Come as Friends is produced by French production company Adelante Films and Austrian production company KPG, and has also been supported by Arte France Cinéma, Canal +, the ÖFI, the ORF-FFA, the FFW, and Eurimages.

Le Pacte’s team, led by Camille Neel, will also sell two animation films to make their market debut in Cannes: Days of the Crows by Jean-Christophe Dessaint (France, Luxembourg, Canada, and Belgium) and Moon Man by Stephan Schesch (Germany, France, Ireland). The documentary The Tomi Ungerer Story by Brad Bernstein is also set to make its market premiere in Cannes.

Promo reels will be shown for Franco-Brazilian 3D co-production Amazonia by Thierry Ragobert, The Patience Stone by Atiq Rahimi (after the novel of the same name by the filmmaker, Goncourt Prize in 2008), and The Nun (read more) by Guillaume Nicloux featuring Isabelle Huppert, Louise Bourgoin, and Pauline Etienne.

As for the films it is distributing in France, Le Pacte’s impressive line-up includes five contenders at this year’s Cannes: The Angels’ Share [+see also:

In France, Le Pacte will also distribute Sightseers by British director Ben Wheatley, who will attend the Directors’ Fortnight.
