Fourteen films selected for Paris Project

- Chiara Malta, Margarita Manda, and Ivo Ferreira have been invited to take part in the Paris Cinéma Film Festival’s co-production platform.

As part of the tenth Paris Cinéma Film Festival (from June 29 to July 10) whose official selection will be revealed tomorrow, this year fourteen film projects looking for French and European co-producers will take part in Paris Project, the festival’s co-production platform, from July 2 to 4. The selected film projects’ producers and directors have been invited to spend three days in the French capital to attend a series of individual meetings. Last year, the event attracted over 350 professionals from 140 companies.

Among the selected projects this year are I'm not an American Actress by Italian filmmaker Chiara Malta (production Vivo Film), Forever by Greek director Margarita Manda (CL Productions), and Letters from War by Portuguese director Ivo Ferreira (O Som e a Furia), as well as Humidity by Serbian director Nikola Ljuca (Dart Film & Video) and The Tribe by Ukrainian film director Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy (Pronto Film). Two projects bringing Europe together with the rest of the world will also be attending with Land by Babak Jalali (Italy/Iran - Asmara Films) and Ruined Heart! Another Love Story between a Criminal and a Whore by Khavn De La Cruz (Germany/Philippines - Kamias Road).

The rest of the selection includes a Chinese film project (Looking for Rohmer by Wang Chao), an Israeli one (Atomic Love by Dror Shaul), two Indian film projects (Four Colours by Bikas Ranjan Mishra and The Fourth Direction by Gurvinder Singh), a Mexican-Bolivian film-in-the-making (The Never Born by Hector Ferreiro), and two film projects from Hong Kong : Bends by Flora Lau and Flowing Stories by Jessey Tsang Tsui-shan.

Four films in post-production, the titles of which are to be revealed on June 11, will also be screened at Paris Project 2012. There will be meetings with five of the current participants of the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinefondation Residence, a Taiwan workshop, and two seminars organised respectively by ACE and EAVE: "Funding films in Europe: where, what and... why?" and "Co-producing with France", with Patrick Sobelman (Agat-films & Cie - Ex Nihilo) and Charlotte Uzu (Les Films d'Ici) as just some of the speakers.
