Israel meets Palestine through film

What role can cinema play in stemming the climate of escalating violence in the Middle East and the tension that is part-and-parcel of the everyday lives of the Israeli and Palestinian communities? That is the question that a number of well-known Belgian and international cultural and political exponents will seek to answer during a three-day event of screenings and round table discussions scheduled to take place in Flagey (Brussels) from 4-6 April.
The films selected for this event include Un ticket pour Jérusalem by Rachid Masharawi (Palestine), La Maison by Amos Gitaï (Israel), Ma’aloul fête sa destruction by Michel Khleifi (Palestine).

The event was conceived of and organised by Janine Euvrard, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the Free University of Brussels (ULB), Pôle Bernheim d’Etudes sur la Paix et la Citoyenneté and Actions in the Mediterranean in collaboration with the Royal Belgian Film Library.
