Danish director Hella Joof’s next comedy is Almost Perfect

- Lene Maria Christensen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas star in the story of a TV hostess – a perfect control freak who realises her future is different from the scenario she planned long ago

A TV hostess with a seemingly perfect life – a career job, beautiful home and good friends – has given up trying to find a man suitable for her sensible and controlled situation, so she decides to become pregnant with a sperm donor. However, realising that the child may inherit some of his potentially less flattering characteristics, she feels compelled to find the donor and ensure that he is the role model she wanted.

Danish actress-comedian-writer-director Hella Joof (Oh Happy Day, most recently Hush Little Baby [+see also:

With a little help from a friend, Anne manages to find the address of the donor but is left with two possible fathers, whom she begins to stalk – one is the Knight on the White Horse whom she desired for the scenario she planned for her future long ago, the other a real loser. Then she falls in love, which is difficult when you are also pregnant and 'sensible'.

“She thought she would go to a beautiful room with a view at a picturesque penzione in Florence – now she is on the way to Nashville in a mobile home, wearing a Stetson, so to speak,” Joof explained. “A lot of choices have to be made, and in a film who would be better for it than an ambitious control freak?”

Scripted by Danish writers Marie Østerbye and Christian Torpe, and photographed by Dan Laustsen, the €2.2 million Almost Perfect is produced by Danish producers Malene Blenkov and Michel Schønnemann, for Blenkov & Schønnemann. Nordisk Film A/S will handle the local release on November 8.
