- The story of a courageous cleaner who decides to stand up for herself is about to hit Finnish screens on Friday

Eila (formerly known as A Clean Sweep) is scheduled for release in Finland on 14 March by Fs Film Oy. Based on a true story, Eila is about a cleaner who decides to go on strike despite the fear of losing her job. It is a personal film about the transformation that a a shy and put-upon woman experiences to become a courageous fighter and proud mother.
Produced by Blind Spot Pictures, with financial support from YLE TV, the Nordisk Film & TV Fund and the Finnish Film Foundation with a Euros1m budget, Eila was directed by Jarmo Lampela and stars Sari Mällinen, Ilkka Koivula and Hannes Suominen.
Set up six years ago, Blind Spot Pictures, who co-produced Lars von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark, have two Euros1.5m films in the pipeline: Producing Adults, a romantic comedy by Aleksi Salmenperä – scheduled to go into production from April to August 2003 in Helsinki, with backing from the MEDIA Programme Development Support, and Jade Warrior by AJ Annila, the first Finnish Kung-Fu film, that will be made on location in Tampere and Lappland in 2003-2004.
