22/08/2012 - For the second time Indian director KV Anand leaves Kollywood for Norwegian locations, to shoot final sequences for Mattraan

Indian director KV Anand (pictured) and his 30-member cast and crew for his new action thriller, Mattraan, have arrived at the Norwegian west coast to shoot the final song and dance sequences on the backdrop of fjord and fjell locations, which are non-existant in India.

The film is already in post-production at Kollywood in Tamil Nadu, South India – the country's second-largest film industry centre (after Bollywood in Mumbai). Release date for the AGS Entertainment production is set for September 12.

"We have marketed Norwegian locations to Indian producers and directors for several years, and organised fam tours targeted at the Indian industry," said head of Film Commission Norway, Truls Kontny. "In this case, since Anand has been here before, most of his 13-22 August schedule was organised by local authorities."

Two years ago, the cinematographer-turned-director visited Bergen to film scenes for his action-thriller musical Ko, which took 40 million admissions in the local markets – he was excited about the landscape of the Norwegian coast.

"To Indian audiences, Norway is an exotic country, and this is what they want to see in these films," explained Norwegian location manager Vidar Trellevik, of VPB Media, who will be part of the 10-member Norwegian addition to the Indian team. Anand has made other parts of the film in Albania.

Starring Indian actor (and TV presenter) Suriya, who was also in Ko, the Norwegian shoot in the Måløy, Flåm, and Fjordane region and on the Geiranger Fjord will focus on music videos which will be included in the film.
