Twelve European directors nominated for People's Choice Award

- Three British, three Scandinavian and two French filmmakers are among the contenders for the audience prize announced on December 1 at the European Film Awards in Malta

Instigated by the European Film Academy, the People's Choice Award sheds a spotlight on the people that films are made for - the audience. The Academy invites film fans from all over Europe cast their ballots for their favourite movie in an online poll, and the prize will be announced at the awards ceremony on December 1 in Malta.

This year there are three British, three Scandinavian and two French directors on the list of nominated films that audiences can vote for here, with a trip to the event in Malta up for grabs. The other nominations for the European Film Awards will be made public on November 3 at the Seville European Film Festival.
