After its world premiere in the competition of the 2011 Sarajevo Film Festival, A Trip went on to more than 20 international festivals, winning four awards at the Nashville Film Festival, a Special Jury Award at Cleveland International Film Festival, and seven prizes at the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorose in 2011, including best script, actor and actress, and critics’ award for best film. International rights for the film are handled by Insomnia World Sales.

Gazvoda was selected for Variety’s 10 European Directors to Watch at this year’s Karlovy Vary and has recently started shooting his second feature film Dual.

A Trip was chosen as Slovenia’s candidate for the Academy Awards by a committee of the Association of Slovene Film Workers in a competition which included Andrej Košak’s State of Shock, Metod Pevec’s Good Night Missy, Jana Cvitkovič’s Archeo, Klemen Dvornik’s Bread and Games, Branko Djurić’s Love, Tractor and Rockn’roll, and three documentaries: Damjan Kozole’s Long Holidays, Metod Pevec’s The Alexandrians, and Vojko Anzeljc’s Sphinx.

Meanwhile, Croatia has chosen Branko Schmidt's Vegetarian Cannibal as its Oscar submission (read the review).

Produced by Telefilm, Vegetarian Cannibal won five Golden Arenas at the Croatian national Pula Film Festival, including best director and best actor in a leading role for Rene Bitorajac. It had its international premiere in the competition of the Moscow International Film Festival, and goes on to London's Raindance, Helsinki, Hamburg, Setubal's Festroia, den Haag, Cottbus and Cairo.

The selection committee of the Croatian Association of Film Workers chose Vegetarian Cannibal from the competition which also included Krsto Papić's Flower Square, Dalibor Matanić's Daddy, Aldo Tardozzi's Spots, Daniel Kušan's Koko and the Ghosts, and Igor Mirković's Night Boats.
