An original and sensitive director with caustic wit, Albert Dupontel previously made off-the-wall comedies Bernie (nominated for a 1997 Cesar for best film), The Creator (1999), Locked Out [+see also:

(2006), and The Villain [+see also:

(2009).

Written by Dupontel, the film’s screenplay starts with a surprise for Ariane Felder (Kiberlain): She’s pregnant! It’s really quite surprising because the young judge is a very straight-laced hardened bachelorette. It all gets even more surprising when a paternal test reveals that the child’s father is none other than Bob (Dupontel), a criminal charged for a frightful assault! Ariane, who remembers nothing, tries to understand what on earth happened and what she should be expecting…

Produced by Catherine Bozorgan for ADCB Films (who had already produced The Villain), 9 mois ferme is to be co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and Wild Bunch (who are also to handle the film’s distribution in France). Pre-acquired by Canal + and Ciné +, the film is to continue shooting in and around Paris until December 14.
