by

- Eight feature length films – a few of them debuts – including some worldwide premieres: Tra 5 minuti in scena by Laura Chiassone and Transeurope Hotel by Luigi Cinque.

The Annecy Festival, dedicated to Italian cinema, will be celebrating its thirtieth birthday this year. From October 3-9, guests will rub shoulders with President Ettore Scola and Annecy’s exceptional godmother Claudia Cardinale: Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Marco Tullio Giordana, Giuliano Montaldo, Daniele Vicari, Daniele Ciprì, Ivano De Matteo, Stefano Chiantini.

Two sections will make up the competition: eight feature films – some of them debuts – among which two will be worldwide premieres: Tra 5 minuti in scena by Laura Chiassone and Transeurope Hotel by Luigi Cinque. Eight documentaries will also be presented. Among out of competition contenders, will be much anticipated Trintignant l’Italien by Emmanuel Barnault.

A professional encounter will take place with the presence of representatives from the National Centre for Cinema. They will take a moment to give feedback on film circulation between France and Italy. In the last few years the situation has improved. After a worrying year in 2009, when only five Italian films were distributed in France, 2010 saw eighteen films distributed, as did 2011. This year, the situation should be similarly good. These results are the consequence of a renewed interest from distributors towards Italian productions, with societies such as Bellissima followed by Le Pacte, Ad Vitam, Pyramide, Wild Bunch and Rezo films. The positive scenario also owes thanks to the work of physical or organisational entities such as Annecy Cinema Italien, Villerupt, Bastia, Nantes and Voiron.
