Franco-German Film Workshop in Baden

by

A special workshop on Independent Film Production is scheduled to take place on 26-30 March 2003 at the German-French Film Academy in Baden-Wuertteberg. Keynote speakers include Geoffrey Gilmore, the director of the Sundance Institute and artistic director of the Sundance Film Festival, and Sunmin Park who produced the The Others. The key issues under discussion will be the similarities and differences between American and European independent cinema and whether Europe’s national identity and the cultural diversity of European cinema can continue to exist in an increasingly globalised film market, as well as the role of the Sundance Film Festival in developing American independent cinema.
One of the principle aims of the German French Film Academy is to create a forum for the two neighbours to exchange ideas and projects, and the Academy hopes to establish a closer relationship with the Sundance Film institute.
