Only Decent People is based on the bestselling novel by Robert Vuijse and is a razor-sharp dissection of the supposedly egalitarian and multicultural Netherlands. It tells the story of a well-off Amsterdam Jew from an intellectual family, David Samuels, who is often mistaken for a Moroccan. His mission in life is to find a dark-skinned, "ghetto fabulous queen" with "amazing tits" and a "great ass" who's also intelligent. But does such a person even exist?

The film was produced by Jeroen Beker/Frans van Gestel and Arnold Heslenfeld for Topkapi Films. Irreverent, youth-oriented broadcaster BNN provided backing, with financial support coming from the Netherlands Film Fund and Cobo Fund.

Wild Bunch Distribution releases the film on 75 screens today (11 October).

Also out today is The Battle, from director Will Wissink. It's the third in the My Dad is a Detective series of films, all directed by Wissink, though each story works as a stand-alone item. Actor Cees Geel plays the detective in all three films.

The Battle, again written by producer and the series' regular screenwriter Zebi Damen, is set against the backdrop of a talent contest, where some people resort to nefarious methods to keep the competition from winning.

The film is an A-Film Distribution release and goes out on 45 screens today. It was produced by A’dam Films (Amsterdam Films) and MVIED.

Sint & Diego and the Magical Well of Myra is a holiday-themed film featuring Saint Nicholas, who has in recent years become a box-office stalwart in autumn. The AM Pictures production, aimed at younger children, goes out on 106 screens, courtesy of Dutch Film Works.

Other titles out today include French hit film In the House [+see also:
