- Darragh O’Connell to direct animated feature

Irish animation company Brown Bag Films and US production house Wind Dancer Films have joined hands to produce the animated feature Nightglider. Wind Dancer recently produced Richard Linklater’s Bernie and Brown Bag has made a number of award winning animated shorts and television series. Nightglider will be the first animated feature for both companies.

Brown Bag Films co-owner and creative director Darragh O’Connell, whose Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty and Give Up Yer Aul Sins were nominated for the Best Short Film, Animated, Oscar, will direct Nightglider. The script by Jeremy Shipp tells the story of a flying squirrel raised as a tree squirrel that becomes convinced that he's a super-hero when he discovers that he can fly.

Little said, “Wind Dancer has an amazing track record and I'm delighted to have their creative point of view and experience in finance and distribution.”

Meserve said, “We fell in love with the script from the first read and are big fans of Brown Bag’s work in family entertainment.”

Nightglider was developed with support from the Irish Film Board.
