Written by the filmmaker, for which this will be the fourth feature, with the collaboration of Christophe Chevalier, the screenplay follows Anna who leads a peaceful family life on the Atlantic coast until she meets Peter, an English photographer who has come over to scout out locations for a film. By lighting up her almost-too-smooth daily life, Peter will reveal what it lacks and become a threat to her relationship. Incapable of resisting her impulses, Anna lets herself be caught up in a deliciously toxic pas de deux, while in the village rumours swell to devastating effect...
Produced by Alain Benguigui and Thomas Verhaeghe for Sombrero Films, Heart and Soul is to be co-produced by the Germans from X Filme and is to benefit from €260,000 in support through the Franco-German mini-treaty. Shooting is set to start in 2013.
The other projects selected are Christophe Gans' Beauty and the Beast (Eskwad - Achtzehnte Babelsberg Film), Hiner Saleem's Aga(Agat Films and HS Productions - Rohfilm Leipzig and Berlin), Xavier Gens' Au Coeur de l'enfer (parity co-production between Bavaria Film and the TF 1 Droits Audivisuels - Les Chauves Souris association), as well as Fréderic Planchon's Schrödinger's Cat Is Dead (Elaine Antoinette - Barry Films).
