Peers has based her first feature on a real-life event from 2003, when the German illusionist Dirk Ohm disappeared during a holiday at Grong in North Trøndelag, Norway.

41-year-old Ohm, from Peine outside Berlin, was last seen on February 4, between 01-02am, carrying two glasses of beer at the Hotell Vertshuset bar. In his hotel room police found all his personal assets, wallet and watch, in his car - parked in front of the hotel in Grong -  his magic equipment.

Norwegian writer Bjørn Olaf Johannessen, who also penned Wenders' upcoming Everything Will Be Fine, is responsible for the script; filming will go on till Easter, and Norwegian distributor SF Norge has scheduled domestic release for September 2014. Dirk Ohm was supported both by the Norwegian Film Institute and Eurimages.
