- The three directors respectively get to work in Rome, Milan and Naples

Monday 25 February marked the beginning of Peter del Monte’s (photo) new film Segui il vento. Produced by 11 Marzo with contribution from MiBAC (€200,000), filming will happen over the next five weeks, ending on March 30 in Santa Marinella, a seaside resort close to Rome. The director, recipient of the special jury prize in Venice in 1980 for L'altra donna and named best artistic contributor in Cannes in 1982 for Invito al viaggio, in his latest film (the last one was Nelle tue mani in 2007) tells the story of a 10-year-old girl staying with a writer who lives on her own by the sea for a few days.

Paolo Virzì also stepped onto set this week with Capitale umano. Shooting for the new director from the Turin Film Festival (read the news story) started on February 18 and will be taking place until April 5, with four weeks in Milan and four more in Varese. Produced by Motorino Amaranto, Rai Cinema, with contribution from MiBAC (€700,000), the film tells the story, in its director’s own words of “the money consequences on people in an age of financial meltdown and the nonchalance with which people profited from financial derivatives.”  The film will star Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Valeria Golino, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Bebo Storti, Gigio Alberti and Giovanni Anzaldo. International sales will be taken care of by French company Bac Films.

Also starting on February 18 was shooting for I milionari, a film by Alessandro Piva with Francesco Scianna, Salvatore Striano, Valentina Lodovini, Carmine Recano and Francesco Di Leva. The man behind Lacapagira (Berlinale 2000, David di Donatello for best new director) and Henry (audience award during the Turin Film Festival in 2010) will be filming for nine weeks, until April 19 in Naples. He will tell the story of Sicco, an honest man who affiliates himself with a Camorra clan through his brother Gennaro. A good husband and father, he tries to keep his family out of his illicit activities, until one day he is arrested by mistake. Once he is out, distancing himself from the clan becomes increasingly difficult. The film is being produced by Giuseppe Gargiulo for CRC Compagnia Realizzazioni Cinetelevisive. Lion Pictures International will take care of international sales.
