Extra-large line-up for Pathé International

- The Great Beauty in competition, Weekend of a Champion in a special screening, Zulu for the closing ceremony and Jodorowsky in the Directors’ Fortnight

The international sales team of the French group Pathé will embark very well armed for the Film Market at the 66th Cannes Film Festival (from May 15th to 26th, 2013). The very extensive line-up (which should rapidly be completed in Cannes by announcements of closely guarded secrets) notably features four films retained for various selections on the Croisette, including The Great Beauty [+see also:

In the Official Selection, Pathé International will also be placing its bets on Zulu by Jérôme Salle (with Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker – article), which will close this edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and the documentary Weekend of a Champion by Frank Simon, which will be unveiled in a special screening and recounts Roman Polanski's encounter with Formula 1 champion Jackie Stewart at the 1971 Monaco Grand Prix. Finally, Pathé will be negotiating sales for La danza de la realidad [+see also:

by cult Franco-Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky, to be presented in the Directors' Fortnight.

The line-up also features Paradise Lost by Andrea di Stefano (in production - news - with Benicio del Toro in the role of Pablo Escobar) and Quai d’Orsay by Bertrand Tavernier (in post-production - article). 

Market premieres are on the programme for Marius and Fanny by Daniel Auteuil (news) who pursues his re-reading of Marcel Pagnol’s work with these two films. The social comedy La cage dorée by Ruben Alves, a welcome surprise in the French box-office since its release on April 24th, will also be screened.

Pathé International’s team headed by Muriel Sauzay will also have a considerable number of post-production titles to work on for pre-sales with, amongst others, Jacky in Women’s Kingdom by Riad Sattouf (article), Attila Marcel by Sylvain Chomet (article), The Mark of the Angels – Miserere by Sylvain White (news), Superchondriac by Dany Boon, Philomena by Stephen Frears (news), Beauty and the Beast by Christophe Gans (news) and the Canadian-Spanish thriller An Enemy by Denis Villeneuve.
