- The director delves into his first feature film, an entanglement of love misadventures, whose screenplay he composed with Alexandra Umminger

After three short films, including Phantomschmerz, which already depicted a complex network of relationships, Alexandre Powelz chose Stuttgart to film his first feature film, Ohne Dich, produced by Ophirfilm. His team will work in the capital of the Bade-Wurttemberg region until June 24th, before taking a break and returning to film a few scenes in the region this autumn.

The screenplay, written by the director and the quasi-novice Alexandra Umminger, intermingles several love stories: that of the perfect couple made up of Rosa, the mid-wife, and Marcel, the psychoanalyst, that of Motto, the waitress, who would like to stay single but gets pregnant with her best friend Neo, a young boy still in search of his sexual identity, and that of a cleaning lady called Layla who desperately wants to get back with her ex. A gunshot, the death of a woman and a birth will take place, but life will have to follow its course.

The roles of Rosa and Marcel were given to Katja Riemann (who knows how to alternate between author films like I Am the Other Woman by Von Trotta, and more commercial titles such as the huge German success of 2012, Türkish für Anfänger) and Charly Hübner (The Good Neighbour). They notably share the screen with Helen Woigk (Life Is Not For Cowards [+see also:

) and Arne Gottschling (Suicide Club).

Ohne Dich is coproduced by the SWR ("Debüt im Dritten" programme), Arte, HR and MDR networks. The project is also funded by the German DFFF funds and the regional fund of Bade-Wurttemberg. It should be ready for next year.
