The awards of TIFF 2013 go all over the world

- Indian film Ship of Theseus wins the festival's top award, the Transylvania Trophy

Romania’s biggest film event, the Transylvania International Film Festival (May 31 - June 9), ended yesterday with its top award going to Anand Gandhi’s Ship of Theseus, already hailed at another TIFF, the Toronto Film Festival, as the new voice of Indian cinema. At the festival’s closing gala held on June 8 at the National Theatre in Cluj-Napoca, Ship of Theseus also won the award for Best Cinematography.

This year’s competition was the most diverse in the festival’s history and it’s no surprise the awards went to countries all over the world. Japanese director Rikiya Imaizumi was granted the Best Directing Award for his first feature I Catch a Terrible Cat, while the Special Jury Award went to Uruguay, to Ana Guvera Pose and Leticia Jorge Romero’s So Much Water [+see also:

and Best Short to Radu Jude's A Shadow of a Cloud.

TIFF 2013 gave Lifetime Achievement Awards to Czech director Jiri Menzel (pictured) and Romanian composer Adrian Enescu. Actress Luminita Gheorghiu received this edition’s Excellence Award.
