10/07/2013 - German actor Udo Kier and New Zealand actress Stephanie Paul ready for the sequel to the dark sci-fi comedy from Finnish director Timo Vuorensola

After Finnish producer Tero Kaukomaa and director Timo Vuorensola – partners of Helsinki-based production shingle, Blind Spot Pictures – have secured more than €112,000 crowd funding for script and promo development, they have scheduled Iron Sky II – The Coming Race to shoot from early 2015.

“Now that we have secured funding for development, we will begin hammering down the story - first draft should be ready by the end of the year, and the final script by the end of 2014,” said Kaukomaa. Contributors to the project received perks, from videos to T-shirts, BluRays, a chance to comment on the script and credits on the film.

film profile], the €7.5 million dark sci-fi comedy which took 183,000 admissions domestically, was sold to more than 60 territories and won an AACTA, the Australian Oscar, will again star German actor Udo Kier and New Zealand actress Stephanie Paul – more casting news will follow shortly, per Kaukomaa.

"A dark comedy making fun of mega-budget Hollywood sci-fi epics, with loads of politically incorrect humour and a storyline that digs into the beginning of mankind” - the story for Iron Sky II has been delivered by the writers of the first film: Johanna Sinisalo, Jarmo Puskala, Michael Kalesniko and director Vuorensola.

It took 57 days for IndieGoGo to finance script and promo development for the €11.2 million feature – “it was just the start – we will continue down this road, because it offers us much more freedom to create the film exactly the way we want it, and to set up a distribution system which makes sense”, Kaukomaa concluded.
