New film projects by Oskar Roehler, Benoît Jacquot and Özgur Yildirim

, German writer-director Oskar Roehler (photo) has come up with another story inspired by his personal experiences. Punk is about a 19 year-old who moves in the 1980s to West Berlin, to find himself. The cast includes Leonard SchleicherWilson Gonzalez OchsenknechtMoritz Bleibtreu and Lavinia Wilson, who already teamed up with Roehler for Sources of Life. Produced by X Filme Creative Pool, the film will be backed with €700,000 from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

Award-winning Turkish-German director Özgur Yildirim, who had his big break with the drama Chiko [+see also:

 in 2008, comes to North Rhine-Westphalia to shoot the thriller Boy 7, which is based on the novel by Mirjam Mous. A boy wakes up disoriented on a subway train and doesn‘t know why the police are after him. The film will be produced by special effects specialist Action Concept, which has received €750,000 support for the project.

Filmfabrik received €600,000 for the family drama Von glücklichen Schafen by writer-director Kadir Sözen, which will also almost entirely be shot in North Rhine-Westphalia. A financial injection of €500,000 goes to Saphirblau, the second part of the time travel trilogy by Felix Fuchssteiner that is produced by Lieblingsfilm. Production support of around half a million euro also went to Blinker Film for the drama Hotel Lounge, in which Maria Furtwängler stars as a development worker in an Arabic conflict area where she falls in love with a man who is 20 years her junior.

Acclaimed German director Dominik Graf has come up with the crime story Die Zielfahnder – Flucht in die Karpaten in which Ronald Zehrfeld is chasing a Roumanian criminal. The action drama is produced by Wiedemann & Berg, which received €410,000 support.

The established Cologne-based Pandora Film that presented films such as The Congress [+see also:

 in Cannes is backed by the NRW film fund with €230,000 for the tragic love story 3 Herzen, which Benoît Jacquot will film with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Catherine Deneuve,  Léa Seydoux and Benoît Poelvoorde.
