Although each of us has his or her “special” photo in mind, all too often, we know little or nothing about the person who recorded that moment for posterity. That is the reason CliCiak exists. Now in its 6th year, the Italian exhibition of set photogaphs and photographers opens tomorrow, 5 April in its home town of Cesena in Central Italy, where it will remain until 25 April when it will embark on a country-wide tour that embraces Milan, Naples, Reggio Emilia, Parma and Carpi as well as the Italian Film Festival in Annecy.
Highlights of this year’s Black & White section include Francesco (Chico) De Luigi’s report from the set of Luciano Ligabue’s Da zero a dieci while the best series award was won by Angelo R. Turetta for Renato De Maria’s Paz!. The Colour section saw the joint victory of Emilio Lari for Febbre da Cavallo – La Mandrakata by Carlo Vanzina and Umberto Montiroli for Operazione rosmarino by Alessandra Populin and the colour series award was shared by Stefano D’Amadio for Crialese’s Respiro and Moris Puccio’s photos of Gabriele Salvatores’ Amnèsia.
The special “Ciak Portrait Award” went to Philippe Antonello for his work on the set of Michele Placido’s Un viaggio chiamato amore and Gianfranco Mura for his colour photos from Alessandro D’Alatri’s Casomai.
The subject of this year’s traditional tribute to a great photographer of the past was Angelo Novi, who worked with Pasolini, Sergio Leone and Bernardo Bertolucci.
