CinÉast reaches its halfway point with big plans

- The 6th edition of the Luxembourger festival continues with screenings of the competition films, retrospectives, screenings for kids or a musical soirée

CinÉast reaches its halfway point with big plans

After reaching 3,000 viewers in its first week, CinÉast festival – which brings Central and Eastern European films to the city of Luxembourg (news) – will start a busy second half this weekend.

Besides the screenings of the films in competition at the Cinémathèque and the CCRN (Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster), the festival will launch a panel discussion about the perception of the female figure in film, after the showing of Erika Hníková’s The Beauty Exchange; the premiere of Peter Bebjak’s horror film Evil; and a retrospective of short films produced by the National Film School of Łódź.

The festival will also hold two screenings for kids. The Kids Show sidebar section will bring to the city silent film cartoons for 2-year-old kids, as well as Janno Põldma and Heiki Ernits’ animation film D’Lotti vu Bastelduerf [+see also:

. Later in the weekend, it will be the turn of the other animated films in the festival: Mait LaasLisa Limone & Maroc Orange, and Ari Folman’s international coproduction The Congress [+see also:

The musical soirée Baltic Night will take place on Saturday, including the screening of Marius Markevicius’ documentary film The Other Dream Team, Estonian rock band Tanel Padar and the Sun’s concert, and a dance music session offered by Latvian DJs.

On Monday, workdays return with the coproduction workshop CinÉast Pro, where producers from the Central and Eastern European countries meet the professionals of Luxembourg’s film industry.
