The tenth edition of the Amazonas Film Festival came to a conclusion Wednesday November 6 with a spectacular closing ceremony, which included an effervescent and colourful Boi Bumbá dance from the region of the Amazon.

The jury of the international competition presided over by Charles Tesson, director of Critics’ Week in Cannes, gave the award for best feature film to The Lunchbox [+see also:

 by Ritesh Batra, which won the Voo na Floresta for best film and best actress (Nimrat Kauar). Metro Manila [+see also:

 by Sean Ellis won three prizes, best screenplay and the audience award, while Brazilian film Entre Nós by Paulo Morelli was awarded best photography and best actor (Caio Blat). The film Wajma [+see also:

Quinto Andar by Marco Nik won the competition for best Brazilian short, while Germes by Rafael Lima and Anos de Luz by Aldemar Matias respectively won best fiction short and best documentary in the short category made in the Amazonian state.

For the tenth year running, the Amazonas Film Festival offered a rich variety of shorts produced in every Brazilian region, as well as international productions. The event is a unique opportunity for the Manaus public to see high quality films for free within the beautiful Amazonas theatre, the city’s symbol.
