09/04/2003 - Oscar-winner Zeta-Jones is to star in and co-produce (through her Milkwood slate) Getting and Spending, a romantic comedy based on the play by Michael J. Chiepiga

The UK National lottery franchise, Pathé Pictures, is going to back Catherine Zeta-Jones’ forthcoming romantic comedy, Getting And Spending, that will be developed and produced by the actress’ company, Milkwood Films, with US production outfit, Starboard Entertainment.
Based on a stage play by Michael J. Chepiga, the film will focus on Victoria, a woman accused of insider trading, who tries to persuade a top defence lawyer to abandon a self-imposed solitude to defend her in court.
“We are confident that Michael’s stage play will be the foundation of a wonderfully clever romantic comedy which will provide a perfect role for Catherine-Zeta-Jones,” said Pathe UK’s managing director François Invernel.
The Welsh actress, who recently won a best supporting actress Oscar for Chicago, said she has had a “long time interest” in Getting And Spending’ s material and is looking forward to its fruition.
