Filming for the romantic comedy starring two of Spain’s most sought after actors, Quim Gutiérrez and Marta Etura, together with Ernesto Alterio, born in Argentina but now living in Spain, started on October 7 and took place over seven weeks in Buenos Aires, Madrid and Paris.

The story, written by Flah, stars an Argentinian screenwriter named Pablo (Alterio), who is asked to write a romantic comedy based in Madrid. At first it is easy. Pablo knows the genre well. He writes about a love story between Marina (Etura) and Víctor (Gutiérrez). But along the way, Pablo enters into a crisis.

Flah has explained that Sexo fácil, películas tristes “has two parts: reality and fiction.” The first happens in Buenos Aires, while the second takes place in Madrid. “The question that the film asks is is it possible to write a romantic comedy when the romantic experience of the person writing is a disaster?”

Commenting on the cast, which includes Carlos Areces, Bárbara Santa Cruz, Julieta Cardinalli and Mónica Antonópulos, Flah said: “I think, without exaggerating, that I could not have had better actors for each role.”

According to José Nolla, producer of the film, it is “a very serious romantic comedy, which reflects on love from a variety of perspectives. From the perspective of a young Spanish couple, full of faith in the future, and that of an Argentine who is going through a very different moment.”
