Written by the director with Antoine Lacomblez, the screenplay focuses on two very different men who are forced to flee together through the peaks of the Algerian Atlas, as the rebellion rises in the valley. In the midst of a harsh winter, Daru (Viggo Mortensen), a recluse teacher, has to move Mohamed (Reda Kateb), a village dweller accused of murder. Chased by horsemen claiming blood law and colonizers with a grudge, the two men rebel. Together they will fight for their freedom.

Produced by Marc du Pontavice and Matthew Gledhill for One World Films, Far From Men is coproduced by Pathé (which will handle the French distribution and international sales) and Kaléo Films. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also backed by Backup Films, Indéfilms and Sofitvcine. Editing will be handled by Juliette Welfling (nominated for the Oscar in 2008 and five time winner of a César) and the music by Australian duo Nick Cave - Warren Ellis.
