in which a mediocre man loses the rest of his self-esteem when his wife leaves him. His two best friends decide that it is time to cheer him up and invite him spontaneously to a trip to Ireland. In a far-off cottage in the middle of the wilderness the trio is looking for new inspiration, energy, freedom and real man-to-man friendship. . Happy Hour is produced by Sonja Ewers and Steve Hudson from Cologne-based Gringo films which won a Golden Lion for the drama Lebanon [+see also:

in 2009.  Markéta Polednová and Katharina Jakobs from Cologne-based Filmboutique came as co-producers while Dominic Wright and Jacqueline Kerrin from Ripple World Pictures also act as executive producers for this project. 

For this comedy about men in the middle of their midlife crisis, German filmmaker Franz Müller received script funding from the Federal Film Board. In Germany, Happy Hour also got production support from WDR/Arte, Film und MedienStiftung NRW, and Kuratorium Junger Deutscher Film.
