Torres wraps Saol in 14 hours
- The feature by Paco Torres is part of a new low budget initiative that aims to make films in 12 hours
Ireland based Spanish director Paco Torres (The Magic Of Hope) has wrapped his new feature Saol (Irish word for life) in Dublin in just 14 hours and one minute. The feature is part of a new concept called Whisper Film Projects where filmmakers try to wrap projects in 12 hours. Saol followed no set script. Torres improvised with his actors on set, following a concept developed by Irish writers Shane Perez, Gemma Creagh, Iarlaith Forkin and Daniel Brennan in advance.
The film is about anxiety, obsessions and reconstruction of a family after the loss of a family member. The cast includes Chelsea O’Connor, Paula McGlinchey, Oliver McQuillan and Rory Mullen. Edwina Forkin at Zanzibar Films and Stephen Gibson at RCA Media Productions produced in collaboration with Colin Browne at Film Equipment Hire, Vast Valley, Filmbase and Glue VFX.
Torres’ next film, also to be produced by Forkin, will be Blue Guitar. Principal photography is set to begin in Galway, Ireland, in March. The cast includes Sareh Bayat (A Separation) and Kais Nashif (Paradise Cruise).
