The cinema fund from the Tuscan region returns

The Tuscan Region is reopening its cinema fund, putting €850,000 aside for second film productions. Films and audiovisual products will have to shed a positive light on the Tuscan region, with specific attention to Tuscan culture, traditions and landscapes.

Fundamental requirements include 50% of footage taken outside to be in the region. Recipients should invest more in the region than what they have received, between 150 and 160% of regional intervention. Candidates can apply starting on February 10 and ending on April 30, 2014.

“The Tuscan region’s aim is to incentivise a fundamental sector of culture and enable positive economic, touristic and employment consequences on the ground,”  culture representative Cristina Scaletti said. “The reopening of the fund is a great piece of news, especially in such a tough moment for Italian culture and beyond.”

Requests will have to come from small or medium sized Italian companies, from European Union companies or from companies members of the Schengen area, with a budget no smaller than €40,000. Support requests should be presented before the beginning of shooting and financial support will only be given for periods following applications. Producers should already have produced, whether directly or collaboratively, at least two other feature length films distributed in the last five years.
