Til Schweiger’s new tragicomedy Head Full of Honey [+see also:

film profile], the post-war drama A Place under the Sun by Danish director Martin P Zandvliet, Detlev Buck’s children’s sequel Bibi & Tina 2 and the road movie Halb Brüder by Christian Alvart (Banklady [+see also:

film profile]) are among the 21 film projects that are receiving a cash injection from the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH). In total, the Hamburg-based film fund is giving out €2.8 million in production, development, scripting and distribution support.

German actor/director Schweiger is due to shoot Honig im Kopf with German comedian Dieter Hallervorden (Sein letztes Rennen [+see also:

film profile]) and his daughter Emma Schweiger in Hamburg at the end of April. In the film, a granddaughter kidnaps her Alzheimer-riddled granddad and takes him on a trip to Venice. Produced by Til Schweiger and Tom Zickler, with Berlin-based Barefoot Films, the road movie is receiving €750,000. What it means to be a family is also in the spotlight in Alvart’s Halbe Brüder, which brings together several half brothers of different ethnic origins after their German mother passes away. The script is penned by Doron Wisotzky (What a Man). Berlin-based production outfit Syrreal Entertainment is getting €150,000 in production support.

Together with his Hamburg-based Amusement Park Films, producer Malte Grunert (A Most Wanted Man [+see also:

film profile]) is getting €450,000 in funding for the German-Danish co-production A Place under the Sun by Martin P Zandvliet. The story revolves around a group of German soldiers who are sent to Denmark to disarm landmines after World War Two. Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Jesper Christensen are set to star in the drama. film profile] by Özcan Alper, in which an Armenian dissident finds a bolthole in Georgia, but while in this self-imposed exile, he feels as if he is in prison. Hamburg-based Riva Filmproduktion is getting €150,000 for this international co-production with Turkey, France and Georgia. The film will be edited by Andrew Bird (The Edge of Heaven [+see also:

Following their recent box-office success with their screen adaption of the famous children’s book Bibi & Tina, Detlev Buck and his co-writer Bettina Börgerding are teaming up once again. Berlin-based DCM is receiving €370,000 in production support for the sequel, Bibi & Tina 2, which follows the new adventures of Bibi Blocksberg on a horse farm.
