Rising to fame at the Berlinale Forum in 2003 with his feature debut Forest, the director then went on to make the multi-award-winning Dealer in 2004, the experimental Milky Way (winner of the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present section of Locarno in 2007), the English-language film Womb [+see also:

Starring in the lead roles of his new opus, which recounts the misadventures of a mother and son as they grapple with the questions of life and death and embark upon an inner journey filled with strange stories, are young actor Bálint Sótonyi and Angéla Stefanovics (who is a member of the Béla Pintér Theatre Company and recently turned heads in Viktoria - A Tale of Grace and Greed [+see also:

Written by Bence Fliegauf, the story sees Rebecca receive news of her mother’s death, which drives her to try to seek out her long-lost father and return to the place where she spent her childhood. At the same time, she starts to tell her son, Danny, a series of stories to reveal memories of her dark past. “As often happens at that age, Danny’s view of the world is magical,” explained the director. “He is fascinated by death and birth, as well as what is real and what is imagined. Rebecca’s symbiotic relationship with her son means that she, too, is forced to confront these questions. But when they both set off down Lily Lane, they have no idea what is in store for them, and they find themselves in a world of mystical urban awakening, full of wonder and secrets.”

Produced by Erno Mesterházy for Hímpor Film, Lily Lane is mainly set in the neighbourhood of Csillebérc, in the Buda Hills, a labyrinth of narrow alleyways bordered by a vast forest. The DoP is Zoltán Lovasi, and the film will be distributed in Hungarian theatres in spring 2015.
