- Sally Potter begins shooting Yes, starring Sam Neill and Joan Allen, in a love story about a US scientist and a Lebanese cook living in London
UK director, Sally Potter (Orlando, The Tango Lesson) has just started shooting Yes with Sam Neill, Joan Allen, Simon Abkarian (Ararat) and Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones’ Diary).
The love story between a US scientist and a Lebanese cook living in exile in London, is produced by Christopher Sheppard - Potter’s long-time partner in Adventure Pictures- and Andrew Fierberg (Hamlet). The film also benefited from a £355,000 (Euros513,000) grant from the Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, and was acquired for worldwide distribution by New York-based GreeneStreet Films which will represent the film at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival.
“Good on GreeneStreet and the Film Council for supporting a film that takes risks,” said Sally Potter. “In today’s climate, commitment like theirs makes a real difference to what filmmakers can achieve.”
Previous films supported by the FC’s New Cinema Fund include The Magdalene Sisters [+see also:
