Portman launches The Actors

- Michael Caine, Miranda Richardson and Michael Gambon star in Neil Jordan's Company of Wolves co-production with Senator Films, Miramax, Film Four and Irish Film Board

The UK-based international sales company, Portman Film & TV, will premiere one of the season’s most highly-anticipated features at the forthcoming Cannes Market. The Actors, a comedy starring Michael Caine, Dylan Moran (Notting Hill), Michael Gambon and Miranda Richardson, was directed by Conor McPherson (Saltwater) and produced by Neil Jordan and Stephen Woolley’s Irish production outfit, Company of Wolves , with financial backing from Film Four,Miramax (the film’s US distributor), Germany’s Senator Film and the Irish Film Board. The film will have its world premiere on 16 May in the UK, distributed nationwide by Momentum.
Intermission, another completed film produced by The Company of Wolves and handled by Portman, will be offered to international buyers, although no screening is scheduled. The black comedy set in suburban Dublin was directed by John Crowley (On an Average Day) and stars Colin Farrell (The Recruit), Kelly MacDonald (Gosford Park), Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later). Intermission was co-produced in the UK by Parallel Films, and will be released in the UK by Buena Vista, and by IFC Films in the United States.
