go into production. Mors Elling (Elling's Mother) will not however be directed by Petter Naess, but by Eva Isaksen. Naess’ film took a domestic box office of NKR43million and sold 776,184 tickets. Elling was based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen’s book, “Brødre i Blodet”, and it went on to become an international hit, attracting the attention, amongst others, of Universal Studios, who signed a co-production deal with Norwegian producer Dag Alveberg for the prequel.
Mors Elling is based on Ambjørnsen’s novel, “Fugledansen” and the project was on hold for 2 years before Alveberg found a co-production partner willing to invest half of the total budget of NKR14.1milion budget (50 per cent of which was put up by the Norsk Filmfond).
Mors Elling will be made on location in Majorca and Norway in high definition (HD) and produced by Dag Alveberg for Maipo Film. It will see the return of Per Christian Ellefsen as Elling, and will be distributed in Norway on 10 October by United International Pictures Norge.
