Born in France to Polish parents, the young filmmaker, who turned heads with her short Chamber Music (selected at such festivals as Clermont-Ferrand, Brest, Indie Lisboa, Tampere and Recife), among other titles, has, according to Cineuropa’s sources, assembled a cast that includes young Belgian actor Yoann Zimmer (who appeared in Two Days, One Night [+see also:

Written by Julia Kowalski, the story sees a Polish labourer called Jozef arrive in Brittany in search of his son, Roman, who he walked out on 15 years ago. He tries to find him again with the help of Rose, his boss’s daughter, unaware that he is about to unleash a fair bit of disruption in the lives of these two highly strung adolescents.
Produced by Mina Driouche, Valérie Donzelli (the director of Declaration of War [+see also:
film profile], among other titles) and actor Jérémie Elkaïm for Les Films de Françoise, Raging Rose is co-produced by Polish outfit Donten & Lacroix Films (Maria Blicharska and Monika Sajko-Gradowska). Having been developed with backing from the CNC (under the “Images of Diversity” support programme) and the MEDIA Programme, the film has been pre-purchased by Ciné+ and France Culture (for a radio adaptation). The feature was supported by the Brittany region, Arte/Cofinova and the Polish Film Institute (Pisf), and it was also aided at the writing stage by the Mill at Andé, the Beaumarchais-SACD grant and the Atelier Grand-Nord. The shoot will take place from 24 November to 9 January in Saint-Brieuc and Poland, and distribution in France will be handled by Epicentre Films.
