30 domestic releases expected in Romania in 2015
- The strong competition may change how local films are distributed in the country
2015 will be a busy year for domestic releases in Romania: approximately 30 films are already completed or will end production in time for a local premiere next year.
Among the most interesting new films are Radu Jude’s Aferim!, Florin Şerban’s Box, Tudor Giurgiu’s Why Me?, Corneliu Porumboiu’s The Treasure, Marian Crişan’s Orizont [+see also:

film profile]. The release dates announced for many of these movies will depend on festival selections, but Anca Damian will release her new title, The Magic Mountain, in October.

The high number of releases is expected to force producers and distributers to invest in promotion campaigns, as Romanian audiences are usually reluctant to favour local productions.
