Besides this highly competitive programme, the festival also offers two focuses: the first (traditionally) dedicated to Italian cinema, as obliged by the Italian diaspora in Mons, and the second to Czech cinema, which has a strong presence. The Lumières section will shed light on lesser-known southern film directors, and the Regards Croisés section will put American and European cinema into perspective, offering an opportunity to see premieres by prestigious figures (Tim Burton, Paul Thomas Anderson…). Finally, the Coup de Coeur will be dedicated to Abdellatif Kechiche, Jirì Menzel, Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina and Carlo Verdone.
