Europa Distribution, Distrify Media seal VOD deal in Berlin

Independent film distribution network Europa Distribution has announced a partnership with Edinburgh headquartered global online film provider Distrify Media to enable the 150 members of the network, across 28 European countries and beyond, to build their own video on demand (VOD) platform. The initiative was announced at the ongoing Berlin film festival. Through the new partnership, Distrify Media will meet with Europa’s member distributors in order to share their expertise on building online audiences and to familiarise the distributors using the technology as well as providing them their distribution plan for free.

Distrify Media Chief Marketing Officer Kobi Shely said, “Video on demand is a huge and fast-growing segment in Europe, and Distrify Media is making films accessible to millions of people in 161 countries. Working with Europa Distribution gives us the unique opportunity for our users to watch some of Europe’s best independent films and we looking forward to expanding our relationship with Europa Distribution in the coming months.”

Europa Distribution General Manager Christine Eloy said, “This new partnership with Distrify Media will enable our members to test new methods born with the digital era. In these changing times, it is important to develop promotional tools to help improving the circulation of films and reaching audiences.”

Distrify’s other clients include Film4, The Guardian, China based FutureTV, the British Film Institute, Creative Scotland and Creative Europe.
