02/03/2015 - Festival crosses 40,000 admissions second year running

Tom Browne’s independent British film Radiator [+see also:

film profile], his feature debut, has won the first ever audience award at the Glasgow Film Festival (18 February – 1 March). The award was voted on by the festival audience from a selection of ten films made by first or second-time directors. Over 1100 votes were cast. The audience award runner up was Lynette Wallworth’s documentary Tender. Both films are currently seeking distribution. Browne said, “Radiator has an unfashionable theme and was made on a tiny budget. Unsurprisingly it is taking a while for the film to find a place within the film industry so to receive this award is very significant for Radiator’s future.”

For the second year running, the festival has crossed 40,000 admissions. There was a 7% increase overall in admissions per event, 45% of the events in the programme sold out completely, and 61% of screenings sold 75% of their tickets.
