Luk Wyns is best known in Flanders for his acting career, thanks particularly to his recurring roles in television series, having appeared recently in Crimi Clowns, which was also the subject of a film adaptation in 2013 that he wrote, directed and produced himself. Uitschot, his new movie, will further develop the universe of the Crimi Clowns, teetering between violence and gallows humour, and may serve as the basis for the next season of the series. Another director hailing from the world of TV series, Jan Matthys, will also be receiving support from the VAF (Flanders Audiovisual Fund) for his feature debut, Vele Hemels, an adaptation of the first novel of the same name by Griet Op de Beeck. The movie will be produced by Caviar, which has got a number of film projects on the go at the moment, as we are expecting no fewer than three features to hit screens by the end of the year: Paradise Trips by Raf Reytjens this summer, Sum of Histories by Lukas Bossuyt after the summer holidays, and Black by Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah in the autumn.

The other project that has piqued a fair bit of interest during this session is, of course, Le Fidèle [+see also:

, and his subsequent adventure in the USA with The Drop, Roskam is back with a French-language project that no one knows a great deal about. Le Fidèle is a dark love story set against the backdrop of gang warfare, which unfolds in Brussels at the beginning of the 1990s. The name Matthias Schoenaerts has been hinted at for a long time but is nevertheless yet to be confirmed. Things should become clearer in time for the Film Market at Cannes. What we do know is that Le Fidèle will be produced by Savage Film, a loyal partner of Roskam’s, and co-produced by Stone Angels in France, and that the screenplay has been co-written with Thomas Bidegain (who has won two César Awards, for Rust & Bone [+see also:
