24/04/2015 - The shortlisted candidates for the Latin American film awards have been presented in Malaga, and feature a heavy presence of titles created jointly by South and Central America and Europe

Promoted by EGEDA (the Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Association, which has a presence in Latin America, Spain and the USA) and FIPCA (the Latin American Association of Film and Audiovisual Producers) in order to give a global boost to the films made in these countries (also including Brazil, Portugal and Andorra), the Platino Awards will be handed out in Marbella, in the province of Málaga, on 18 July. This will be the second awards ceremony for these particular trophies (read the news about the first edition). Yesterday, at the city hall in Málaga, which is currently hosting its 18^th Spanish Film Festival, the 15 candidates per category that are competing for nominations were made public; the final list of nominations will be announced at the end of May.

Enrique Cerezo, president of EGEDA, remarked gleefully, “The long-cherished project of collaboration between our countries to create the Latin American brand of cinema is nearing its second edition: Latin America is a way of understanding life, art and film. And boosting that brand needs the involvement of governments, institutions and the media.”
